Exfoliation: Is it Important?

Whether you realize it or not, your skin is constantly changing. Old skin cells die, and new ones are replaced in a time frame of typically 28-40 days. Young people's skin tends to regenerate sooner than that, while this rate slows down for older folks.
Simply put, exfoliation removes the dead, dull skin cells and encourages regeneration. New, healthy skin cells are much more receptive to skin care products, allowing them to sink in and work effectively. The result is softer, brilliant skin.
How should I exfoliate?
A dry body brush is an excellent way to exfoliate. Dry brushing prevents the dead skin cells from accumulating, while also stimulating new cells to form. You can also use jojoba wax beads and Gamet Gemstone powder to exfoliate.
How often?
Start by only exfoliating once a week, and increasing to two to three times. If you exfoliate too often, it can dry out the skin.
Of course, high quality moisturizers are an excellent way to finish up your exfoliation routine. Check out our Horse Chestnut Leg Lotion from Kettle Care Botanicals for an excellent way to nourish and invigorate the skin on your legs.
